| At Vineyard Community Church
we see ourselves as a "house of prayer," a community of believers talking
and listening to God in an intimate way. When we use the word "worship,"
we usually mean expressing our love for God in music and song, or in other tangible
ways. Worship is really a form of prayer; it is talking
to God through creative expression. That's why at the Vineyard we love to sing
love songs to Jesus. It is the reason you might see people raise their hands,
bow their heads, close their eyes, kneel, lay prostrate, or even dance. We envision
VCC as a house of worship and a house of prayer. In other words, church is a place
to get to know God. But there is more, much more, to consider
as we picture our church this way. When we pray to our Father who is in heaven
(and over heaven), profound changes happen in the everyday circumstances of our
lives. Jesus showed us that we pray to commune with the Father, and He taught
us that we can pray to change whatever is wrong in the world to what is right
in heaven. This is why prayer is the most powerful force in the universe. As
a worshipping community, one of our favorite things to do is to mix our music
and songs with our prayer requests to the Lord. Sometimes our worship songs turn
into intercession, and we sing out God's good intentions for our lives and our
community. We have also found that often the best time to pray for each other
is after ministering to the Lord for a prolonged period of time. At VCC we are
excited about prayer and worship, because we are excited about Jesus.
